According to Cricbuzz, former Australian coach Justin Langer is reportedly being considered for a role in the Indian Premier League (IPL), specifically with the Lucknow Super Giants. If the talks proceed smoothly, Langer could take over the reins of the team in the upcoming season. Although neither the LSG management nor Langer himself has confirmed these ongoing talks, IPL insiders suggest that several discussions have taken place between the two parties. Langer has a successful track record, having led Australia to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021 and leading the Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League titles within the first four years.

The franchise management has chosen not to comment on possible coaching staff changes while Langer, currently unattached to any coaching assignment, is open to new opportunities. If an agreement is reached, Langer will replace Andy Flower, whose two-year contract with the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise ends after the IPL 2023 season. However, there has been no discussion regarding changes to the LSG support staff, indicating that Morne Morkel, Jonty Rhodes and Vijay Dahiya are expected to stay on as bowling, fielding and assistant coaches respectively.
Under Flower’s guidance, the KL Rahul-led side did exceptionally well, reaching the playoffs in both the seasons but missing out on the finals. He finished third both times. Additionally, coaching changes are expected in other IPL teams. Reports suggest that teams that haven’t performed well are actively looking for new coaches, and there is speculation that some notable figures may face replacement. However, Kolkata Knight Riders, who finished seventh last season, are expected to retain their current setup under Chandrakant Pandit.
