83-year-old singer LR Eswari has this to say on Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s song Oo Antwa Oo Oo Antwa from the film Pushpa: The Rise.
Veteran playback singer LR Eswari, who has sung many songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English, is in limelight these days. The 83-year-old singer has commented on item songs being made in films these days. In an interview, LR Eswari criticized Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Oo Antwa Oo Oo Antwa song from the movie Pushpa: The Rise. “I don’t like the songs that come now. Recently, I heard the song Oo Solariya Oo Oo Solariya (Tamil version of Oo Antwa song). Is that all singing? It was like this from beginning to end. What do singers know? They sing as told,” Eswari said.
As reported by Filmy Beat, the veteran singer said, “If I had sung the song, its range would have changed completely. I didn’t like the song. What will the new coming kids (singers) know? The music directors had to see it and they had to sing it perfectly.”
The singer, who was honored with the Kalaimamani Award by the Tamil Nadu government, further added, “The olden days were different. There’s a reason our songs remain classic and notable to this day.”
For those who don’t know, the song Oo Antwa from Pusha movie was one of the most popular tracks in 2022. Its popularity can be gauged from the fact that on YouTube, the official version of the song has crossed 344 million views till date and the counting is still on the rise.
