News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs 171.50. The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kolkata has increased from Rs 2132.00 earlier to Rs 1960.50. The price of LPG cylinder in Mumbai will increase from Rs 1980 earlier to Rs 1808. In Chennai it will increase from Rs 2192 last month to Rs 2021 now.

However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders. It is available for Rs 1103 in Delhi, Rs 1112.5 in Mumbai, Rs 1129 in Kolkata and Rs 1118.50 in Chennai. Domestic gas price in Patna is 1201 per cylinder. The price of domestic cooking gas was changed on 1 March 2023. Then it was made cheaper by Rs 50.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) had increased the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders on March 1 last. The revision was Rs 50 per unit and Rs 350.5 per unit for domestic and commercial cylinders. Earlier, from January 1, the prices of commercial cylinders were increased by Rs 25 per unit.

The price of commercial cylinders was last reduced by Rs 91.50 on September 1 last year. On 1 August 2022 also, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders were cut by Rs 36. Earlier on July 6, the rate of 19 kg commercial cylinder was cut by Rs 8.5 per unit.

The price of cooking gas is determined by the formula of Import Parity Price (IPP). Cooking gas in India is mostly dependent on imports, so there is a big impact on international gas prices.
