‘Looking forward to more’, tweets Rahul as India completes over 2 crore vaccinations in a day

As India on Friday set a new record by giving over 2 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed his desire to see more such days. “21 crore are waiting for many more days of vaccination. This is the momentum our nation needs,” he tweeted.

India on Friday broke all previous records of delivering over 2 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses in a day, registering an unprecedented feat on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday (September 17). To achieve this milestone, the ruling BJP had roped in its health volunteers to ensure that as many people as possible get their COVID-19 vaccines during the day.

“Thank you. Well done India,” Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visits a vaccination site to thank health workers in Safdarjung area of New Delhi.

India has already administered more than one crore COVID-19 vaccines in a day on several occasions. The daily COVID-19 vaccinations in the country on September 6, August 31 and August 27 were over 1 crore.

According to the Health Ministry, it took 85 days for India to touch the 100 million immunization mark, 45 days to cross the 200 million mark and 29 days to reach the 300 million mark.
