Babar Azam will come out for Colombo Strikers

Pakistan captain and world No. 1 ODI batsman Babar Azam will play for Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League, the team’s maiden foray into the tournament.
The Colombo franchise will be closely watched by the fans with the hope of seeing Babar Azam destroy bowling attacks with utmost grace. The top-order batsman has scored 9201 runs in 260 T20Is at an impressive average of 44.02.
Babar, who is one of the first cricketers to attend Harvard Business School’s executive education program, along with Pakistan teammate Muhammad Rizwan, recently had a candid chat with Colombo Strikers owner Sagar Khanna ahead of the Lanka Premier League Meet, which will start. On 31 July.
The players auction for the Lanka Premier League is on June 14 and Colombo Strikers will be hoping to buy some of the most talented players. Along with Babar, Mathisha Pathirana, Naseem Shah and Chamika Karunaratne are already in the squad for Colombo Strikers.
“It was great talking to Sagar and talking about cricket. Sagar is a wonderful person to work with and is very curious and knowledgeable when it comes to the game of cricket. I hope to have more such conversations and interactions with him in the future. Lanka Premier League with Colombo Strikers will be a great experience for me and others with this kind of management which always backs the players,” said Babar Azam.
“Babar is a brilliant player and an inspiration to all youngsters. His batting ability and captaincy is fantastic and I am very happy that we are working together in Colombo Strikers. It is always good to chat about cricket with him, and even better when it is in person,” said Sagar Khanna.
Colombo Strikers will be in action in their maiden season of the Lanka Premier League in July-August 2023.
