A woman on a scooter was seriously injured when she was hit by a speeding BMW car in Mangaluru on Saturday.
The incident took place at Ballalbagh Junction around 1:20 pm and was captured on CCTV. According to reports, the speeding BMW car jumped over a divider and rammed into the victim, throwing her under another car before stopping the vehicle.
The woman and the driver of the other car have sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment. The speeding car also nearly hit another woman, who was standing on the divider to cross the road, as she collided with a two-wheeler on the other side of the road. The woman lost her balance and fell on the ground.
The video captured the entire uproar. It showed how the traffic was moving silently until the BMW jumped off the divider and hit the woman’s scooty. People were seen gathering at the spot.
Some people were seen helping the woman to stand on her feet while some started assaulting the BMW driver.
It is suspected that the driver of the BMW car was under the influence of alcohol. However, the investigation of the matter is still on.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old bike rider narrowly escaped a collision with a private city bus in Mangaluru on April 8. The bike was dragged for about 50 meters and the bus burst into flames after the collision near the busy Hampankatta junction in the vicinity. 2.30 pm
The man on the two-wheeler suffered a leg fracture and was admitted to a government hospital, while 20 passengers on the bus got off the bus before the flames spread.
