look | When CM Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav came face to face in the UP Assembly

new Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav got into a face-off during the swearing-in of newly-elected MLAs in the state assembly on Monday.

In the video, the two leaders smiled at each other and shook hands before moving forward.

Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav exchanged time and again regularly during the campaign phase of the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh election, where the BJP came back to power.

While Akhilesh mocked the UP CM by calling him “Baba Mukhyamantri”, the BJP used “familywadi” ridicule to attack the Akhilesh-led Samajwadi Party.

The newly elected members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly are taking oath today.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was first sworn in as the Leader of the House. Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav also took oath as MLA.

After taking oath, Akhilesh Yadav said that the opposition will work in a positive way to fix the accountability of the present government.

Notably, he was unanimously elected as the Leader of the SP Legislature Party and the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at the party headquarters on Saturday, which was attended by all the newly elected MLAs and party members of the Legislative Council.

After winning from the Karhal assembly seat, Akhilesh Yadav resigned as an MP to play a role in the state.

The Samajwadi Party had won five Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections. In the results announced earlier this month, the party had won 111 seats in the assembly polls.

The BJP returned to power by winning over 250 seats in the state.
