New Delhi: A video is going viral on social media in which Taliban fighters are seen removing Pakistani flags from trucks carrying aid for the civilians of Afghanistan.

The video is from Sunday, when Pakistan sent 17 trucks carrying 278 tonnes of food items, including 65 tonnes of sugar, three tonnes of pulses, 190 tonnes of flour, 11 tonnes of cooking oil and 31 tonnes of rice.

In the video, Taliban fighters armed with guns were seen running towards trucks and removing the flag and then breaking it, after which the fighters were heard cheering. One fighter tore the flag and the other was seen tearing the flag off the truck.

According to Geo TV, 13 of the 17 trucks were received by the Consul General of Pakistan, Jalalabad Abidullah, and Maulvi Mubariz, the head of the Ministry of Regional Industry and Private Sector, who thanked the Pakistan government and the Pak Afghan Cooperation Forum (PACF) for the help. The remaining four trucks were found by Maulvi Mubariz in Nangarhar on Monday. The report also said that Pakistan had earlier sent 32 tonnes of flour, six tonnes of cooking oil and two tonnes of medicine through C-130.

On learning about the incident, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Tuesday that the whole situation was regrettable and those responsible would be arrested and their weapons confiscated. He also said that Taliban leaders were saddened that this was done to the truck that sent the aid.
