New Delhi: Launching the Congress party’s campaign in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recited ‘Durga Stuti’ while starting her address at the ‘Kisan Nyay’ rally today.
Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday addressed a ‘Kisan Nyay’ rally at a ground in Rohaniya area of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency.
News agency ANI shared a video of Priyanka Gandhi reciting ‘Durga Stuti’ as she begins her speech.
“It is the fourth day of Navratri and I would like to start by praising Mother,” she said. He further asked the crowd to join in saying “Jai Mata Di”.

Addressing the gathering, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: “Last week, the son of Union Minister of State (Home) crushed 6 farmers with his vehicle. The families of all the victims said that they want justice but you all have seen that the government is saving the minister and his son.
He further alleged that “the CM is saving the minister from the public platform”, he said, adding that “the PM had come to Lucknow to watch the performances of ‘Uttam Pradesh’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, but to share the Lakhimpur Kheri. Could not go. Grief to the families of the victims”.
“PM Modi called the protesting farmers ‘andolan jeevi’ and terrorists. Yogi ji called them goons and tried to threaten them. The same minister (Ajay Kumar Mishra) said that he will make the protesting farmers stand in line within 2 minutes,” the Congress leader was quoted as saying by ANI.
The Congress general secretary raised the issue of Air India disinvestment as well as the special Air India One aircraft, alleging: “Modi ji bought two aircraft for himself last year for Rs 16,000 crore. He sold the entire Air India of this country to this billionaire friends for just Rs 18,000 crore.
He further claimed that “there are only two types of people safe in this country today – BJP leaders who are in power and their billionaire friends”.
Prior to her ‘Farmer Nyay’ address, Priyanka Gandhi also offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Durga Mata Temple in Varanasi.

He was accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and party observer for the upcoming UP elections Bhupesh Baghel and party MP Deepender Singh Hooda.
Even as the early election predictions do not paint an optimistic picture for the Congress with respect to the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election, Priyanka Gandhi is entrusted with the responsibility of reviving the party’s presence in the Hindi-speaking region.
Whether his efforts to connect with the people of UP bear fruit for the Congress remains to be seen.
