look | Indian Navy successfully test-fires extended range BrahMos missile

new Delhi: The Indian Navy on Saturday successfully test-fired an extended-range land-attack BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from stealth destroyer INS Chennai.

According to naval officials conducted in the Arabian Sea under the Western Naval Command, the missile struck its intended target with a near perfect accuracy after crossing an extended range trajectory and performing some complex maneuvers during the demonstration.

Taking to its official Twitter handle, the Indian Navy wrote, “The long range precision strike capability of the upgraded version of #BrahMos missile has been successfully validated. TGT’s pin point destruction demonstrated combat and mission readiness of the frontline platforms. One more shot in the arm for #AatmaNirbharBharat.”

The BrahMos missile and INS Chennai are both built in India and highlight the cutting edge of Indian missile and shipbuilding prowess.

They also underline the contribution of the Indian Navy in the efforts of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.

Navy officials said the achievement also establishes the Indian Navy’s ability to conduct deeper strikes and influence land operations off seas when required.

Notably, the air-launched version of BrahMos was successfully test fired from Sukhoi-30MKI in November 2017.

BrahMos has been inducted into the Indian Navy and Army since 2006, but the air-launched version is more versatile as a fast-moving Sukhoi-30 fighter can travel the least distance, unlike slow-moving warships. could. 1,500 km towards the target before firing the missile. The missile then flies another 400 km to hit a target.
