New Delhi: The Malaysian bar is offering customers bottled cocktails named after popular COVID-19 vaccines, with recommended servings of alcohol.
The drinks – Pfizermeister, Sinosaur and Extraginka – and marketed as “lockdown boredom busters”, are proving popular, news agency AFP reported.
The backdoor bodega bar that was once capable of filling customers is now largely empty of drinkers. Bottled cocktails are now prepared and packaged for delivery.
Talking about the idea behind the vaccine-themed names, Backdoor Bodega owner Koh Yung Shen told AFP: “(At the time around June), everyone in Malaysia was so excited that they didn’t have to wait until now. Haven’t gotten their vaccines. Everyone was desperate for their vaccination shots because the vaccination campaign wasn’t quite as pumped up as it is now. So I guess everyone has a lot on their lips at the time like the themes of the day: ‘ When am I going to get my vaccination?'”.
In the video, the labels on the bottles of Pfizermeister, Sinosaur and Extragyna can be seen along with their ingredients, serving sizes and recommended uses.
Bottled cocktails can be seen on a bar counter next to a syringe and drinking glass. Finished bottles are wrapped in bubbles, packed in boxes for delivery.
Talking about the delivery status, the bar owner said: “While I’m sure everyone would want to be back behind the bar on a regular bar night, I think this whole bottle delivery thing is inevitable. We Will still go after the pandemic because everyone is already used to it”, AFP told AFP.
