New Delhi: A video of a Maltese singer singing a Bangla song on the streets of the European island nation’s capital Valletta has sparked a buzz on social media, with people marveling at the artist’s fluency in the foreign language.
The video was posted on Facebook and YouTube by a user named Saiful World on November 9 and has since been shared by many.
While the video has been viewed nearly 15,000 times on YouTube, it has been re-shared by a Facebook page ‘Life in Europe’. recorded Over 2.5 lakh views and nearly 250 comments.
Song, ‘Let’s not ghure Aashi Ajnaate’, It is a famous song originally sung by late Bangladeshi rock singer and songwriter Happy Akhand.
The video appears to feature singer Benny Grima who regularly performs as a busker in the capital of Malta.
In a 2018 interview to the Maltese website Newsbook.com.mt, Grima said that he prefers to sing in the streets of Valletta to perform in hotels. He also said that he could sing in Chinese, Polish and Hindi, and that he learned other languages by performing in the streets.
According to the website, born in 1954, Grima comes from a family of musicians.

About Happy Akhand and ‘Chalo Na Ghure Aashi’
Known as the prince of Bangladeshi music, Happy Akhand was considered a musical prodigy. He was a founding member of the rock band, Miles, and one of the leading rock musicians of Bangladesh.
According to a report in The Daily Star, Happy Akhand passed away in 1987 at the young age of 27. The report stated that along with brother Lucky Akhand, they are “remembered as two of Bangladeshi pop music’s greatest exponents”.
Lucky Akhand passed away in 2017.
Reportedly, the song ‘Chalo Na Ghure Aashi’ has dominated the pop genre in Bangladesh ever since it was created, and is considered to be the most famous song of all time, sung by Happy Akhand.
