Mumbai: An unfortunate incident took place in Maharashtra on Saturday during a protest by Congress workers against the hike in fuel prices in Mumbai. Protests came to an abrupt end in Mumbai after a bullock cart laden with Congressmen fell in the middle of the road.

A video of the unfortunate incident has surfaced showing Mumbai Congress chief Bhai Jagtap and several party workers protesting against the hike in petrol and diesel prices in the financial city.

A bullock cart used by a dozen Congress workers to protest suddenly collapsed. The Congress president and other supporters could be seen falling amidst slogans against the hike in fuel prices.

The incident comes in the backdrop of skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel. Fuel prices across the country have seen a jump once again on Saturday. Petrol prices crossed Rs 100 per liter in four metro cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

According to the latest update, state-owned oil companies have once again increased the price of petrol by 30 to 30 paise on July 10. Petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 100.91 per liter while the rate of fuel in Mumbai is currently Rs 106.93 per litre.
