Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, celebrated for his work in films like Kaithi, Vikram and the recent blockbuster Leo, has his eyes set on a collaboration with Bollywood icon Aamir Khan. In a recent interview, Lokesh shared his admiration for the Bollywood star, revealing that he’s a “huge fan” and hinted at a potential project together in the future.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Lokesh spoke about his journey in the film industry, his collaborations with South Indian superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and his aspirations to work with Bollywood talents. When asked if he would be working with Aamir Khan soon, the Leo director was optimistic, saying, “We’re talking.” He recalled how Aamir reached out to him during the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, and they even watched the film together in Chennai. Lokesh offered his feedback on the movie and shared his thoughts on what he admired about it.

Since then, Lokesh and Aamir have tried to catch up whenever they’re in the same city, whether it’s Mumbai or Chennai, to discuss films and creative ideas. While Lokesh has upcoming commitments that could delay the potential collaboration, he expressed genuine interest, saying, “If everything goes well, then why not work on a concept? I’d love it.”

Apart from his Bollywood aspirations, Lokesh has been busy with his South Indian projects. Recently, he attended the screening of Bloody Beggar, a film starring Kavin, and faced questions about a possible sequel to Leo with Thalapathy Vijay. The film had ended on a cliffhanger, fuelling fan anticipation for Leo 2. However, Lokesh deferred the decision to Vijay himself, saying only “Vijay Anna” could decide if they proceed with a sequel.

Meanwhile, Lokesh is also directing Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, with just two schedules left to wrap up filming. The movie is set to feature veterans like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao, adding to the excitement. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer to know its official release date.

For now, cinema lovers can look forward to the potential Lokesh-Aamir collaboration while the director continues to work his magic with South Indian cinema’s biggest stars.
