The festival of Lohri, a symbol of happiness, prosperity and good luck, is celebrated on the last day of the Pausha month of the Hindu calendar. Lohri is celebrated in many states, mainly in Punjab, and holds special significance for farmers. Lohri marks the beginning of a new year for farmers in Punjab. The start of Indian harvesting festivals is just around the corner. Although the occasions bear a close resemblance to each other, the festival is known by different names in different communities. This festival is also known as Makar Sankranti. On this auspicious occasion, many TV stars including Ankit Gupta, Surbhi Chandna, Gashmeer Mahajani wished their fans.

Ankit Gupta who plays the role of Jahan in Junooniyat said, Lohri has always been about spending quality time with family for me. Its biggest attraction is the delicious food that is prepared for the day. My family loves to have some of my favorite sweets like til ki burfi, makhana ki kheer and pinni with sarson da saag and makki di roti. I think it is a celebration of harmony and new beginnings. I pray for everyone’s well being this Lohri.

Surbhi Chandna who plays Manmeet in Sherdil Shergil shared, “One of my fondest memories of Makar Sankranti is waiting for the special food prepared for it. Khichdi, Til Gul Ladoo and Puran Poli are my favourites. This year, I will also celebrate the festival with my Colors family on the sets of Sherdil Shergil. I can bring kites on the sets and fly them during our breaks. May everyone have something to celebrate this Makar Sankranti.”

Gashmir Mahajani who will be seen playing the role of Armaan in Ishq Mein Ghayal said, “I grew up in Pune where Makar Sankranti is celebrated with much fanfare. Flying kites on the terrace with all my friends and family. My favorite memory. As a kid, I was very excited about buying fancy kites that could outshine others in kite flying competition. Now, the festival is all about being with my family. I wish all the viewers of Colors Happy Makar Sankranti to.

Ravi Gosain who plays Randeep in Dil Diyan Gallan said, “Lohri is one such festival which brings back many nostalgic memories. These days out of shoot, I usually have a small celebration in my society. I really miss Delhi and Punjab a lot at the moment! As kids, we used to run around and pick up pieces of wood to kindle for the fire, trying to make sure each bonfire was bigger than the next. I also remember learning to make Gajak with my grandmother! It’s one of my favorite things to look back on. My grandparents used to be a big part of our Lohri celebrations. They used to quietly give us 5-10 rupee notes and we always saved them! My message to the people and fans out there, this Lohri spend time with your family, especially your elders! Maybe learn how to make some Gajak and send it to me if you have any left over! Wishing everyone a very Happy Lohri!”

Hitesh Bhardwaj playing the role of Ekam in Udaariyaan said, “The festival of Lohri is one of my favorite childhood memories. As a child, I used to look forward to this festival every year. While we were saying goodbye to the gloomy and chilly winter days, we enjoyed ourselves by lighting a bonfire. We used to sing songs, dance and gather around the bonfire with our family and friends. Even today, we follow the practice of worshiping the holy Lohri fire and praying for everyone’s good health.”
