Local body MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana to be held on December 10

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the election schedule for MLC seats under local body quota in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. They are 12 seats in Telangana and 11 in Andhra. The Election Commission said that the elections will be held on December 10 and the results will be declared on December 14.

Notification for this will be issued on November 16, till 23 nominations will be received. The Election Commission said that the concerned authorities will conduct an inquiry on November 24 and the withdrawal will be allowed on November 26.

In Telangana, two seats each are vacant in Mahbub Nagar, Karim Nagar and Ranga Reddy districts. Also, one seat is vacant in Nalgonda, Medak, Warangal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Khammam districts.

In Andhra Pradesh, two seats each in Krishna, Guntur, Visakhapatnam districts and one each in East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Anantapuram, Prakasam, Chittoor districts will go to polls.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel said that the model code of conduct has come into force. The Election Commission will not allow public gatherings with more than 500 people.

The CEO said that the election code of conduct is already in place, no public gathering including TRS Vijaya roar will be allowed in Warangal on November 29 or otherwise.
