Liverpool Transfer: Jordan Henderson leaning towards Saudi with eye-watering £700,000 per week offer

New Delhi: Liverpool’s long-serving captain Jordan Henderson will hold talks with manager Jurgen Klopp within the next 24 hours after being offered a hefty salary to move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, who have not won a title for 36 years.

Henderson’s career at Anfield

Henderson has had a decorated career at Anfield, having picked up the Reds’ captain armband eight years ago. As a captain, Henderson has won the Premier League title, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Champions League.

Henderson to re-unite Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard?

It looked as though his time at Anfield would be up to an end after he was offered a handsome salary by Saudi hawkish Steven Gerrard. Henderson’s former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard was appointed as Al Attifaq’s new manager last week and has played a key role in building the 33-year-old’s career.

The English midfielder still has two years left on the four-year contract he signed in the summer of 2021, meaning a fee will need to be arranged between Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq.

quadruple pay offer

According to media reports, Henderson has been offered a lucrative £700,000-a-week salary by the Knights of Ad-Dahna. It would quadruple his current wages, with Liverpool paying him around £190,000-a-week.

Henderson is outspoken about LGBT+

The Saudi club are keen to sign him to make him their statement player, but Henderson is also outspoken about the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, which is still illegal in Saudi Arabia. But a potential move could stall over a transfer fee, with Liverpool prepared to demand a significant fee for their captain. Ettifaq may be reluctant to pay his asking price, although according to The Athletic, Henderson is ‘leaning’ towards accepting his offer.
