Liverpool co-owners buy 15% stake in Rajasthan Royals

Redbird Capital Partners, a private investment firm that has invested in the company that owns the Liverpool Football Club and the Boston Red Sox baseball team, has acquired a 15 percent stake in the Indian Premier League.IPL) Franchise Rajasthan Royals. The value of the transaction amount signed with the Royals ranges from US$250 million to US$300 million.

London-based venture capitalist Manoj Badale’s investment firm Emerging Media holds a majority stake.

“Such investments are a testament to the IPL and India’s global position as an attractive investment destination,” Badale said.

In an official release posted by Rajasthan Royals, Gerry Cardinale, Founder and Managing Partner, Redbird said, “The IPL is a dynamic league with a forward-thinking mindset around a global audience and fan and player engagement.”
