Live Updates: Rajnath Singh to brief Parliament on Army helicopter crash

General Bipin Rawat, 11 others died in a helicopter crash yesterday.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will make a statement in both the Houses of Parliament on the helicopter crash in which 13 people including Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat were killed. Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary is the Chief of the Air Staff at the crash site.

Three-day state mourning in Uttarakhand on the death of General Rawat

The Uttarakhand government on Wednesday declared three days of state mourning on the death of Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash.

General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others were killed in a helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

Describing his death as an irreparable loss to the country, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand will always be proud of its son.

When did the helicopter crash?
The helicopter crashed soon after taking off from the Air Force Base at Sulur, Coimbatore at 11.45 am. It was on the way to Wellington in the Nilgiri Hills where General Rawat was to address a gathering at the Defense Services Staff College.
