LIVE: COAS neither seeking extension of term nor will he accept one, says DG ISPR – Henry Club

Rawalpindi: Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Thursday that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa is neither demanding nor will he accept.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, Major General Babar said that any attempt to create rift between the people and the armed forces is against the national interest.

Welcoming the constructive criticism, Major General Babar said, “Malicious campaign is being waged against the army and its leadership using deeply spurious technology.”

“An engineer movement has been prepared against the Pakistan Army”, he said, adding that character assassination of the army on the basis of rumours is not tolerable under any circumstances.

Responding to a question about the BBC’s report on the incidents at the prime minister’s residence on the night of Imran Khan’s ouster, Major General Babar said it was a “false story” and nothing but a lie. ,

“The army has nothing to do with the political process that took place in the country a few days ago,” he said. “Don’t drag the army into political matters.”
