Light rain likely in Delhi today

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain or drizzle in the national capital later in the day. There is a possibility of some respite from the scorching heat due to cloudy sky.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be 43 degree Celsius.

The relative humidity was recorded at 42 percent.

Even with the possibility of rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave in parts of Delhi on Monday.

IMD uses four color codes for weather warnings – green (no action required), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared) and red (take action).

Meteorologists have attributed the heat wave to the absence of a strong western disturbance and continuous hot and dry westerly winds.

He said that there is a possibility of getting relief from the scorching sun by June 15-16.

Thunderstorms, cloudy sky, strong winds and light rain are forecast over the coming weekend. The maximum temperature of Safdarjung Observatory may drop to 38 degree Celsius till Saturday.

Delhi’s base station Safdarjung Observatory on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.
