‘Liger’ worldwide box office collection day 1: Vijay Deverakonda’s actioner rakes in Rs 33 crore – Times of India

Vijay Deverkaonda starrer action entertainer ‘Liger’ seems to have struck gold at the box office. After a dry spell, this film has managed to pack a punch overall. The film has received a good response in Hindi and Telugu, while overseas box office has also added positively to its collection. ‘Liger’ has managed to earn Rs 33 crore worldwide on its first day.

Vijay essays the role of an MMA fighter in this movie. Speaking about the same, Vijay had previously shared, “My character in the film has a stammering problem and that made it more interesting. On one hand, he is the guy who is physically so strong and intimidating to others, he is a fighter, but he can’t even utter the simple three words ‘I love you’ to the girl he loves. It added both subtle humour and an emotional layer to his character. Initially, when we started shooting, I was struggling to get the right note, but after three days, everything was easy.”

Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, ‘Liger’ features Vijay and Ananya Panday in the lead roles with a special cameo by former American boxer Mike Tyson. ‘Liger’ was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages. This film marks Vijay’s Bollywood debut. Ananya and Vijay had taken off on a multi-city tour to promote the film. At the end of promotions, Ananya had penned, “34 days, 20 flights, 17 cities – what’s kept us going is YOUR love ❤️ We’ve been blessed beyond measure with all the love and joy you have showered us with in every city and I will never ever forget this. Our film is yours tomorrow!!!! We do it all for you, Enjoyyyyyyy #LIGER ❤️❤️❤️ also appreciation post for this guy right here @thedeverakonda I wouldn’t want it any other way and I couldn’t imagine this adventure with anyone else – you’re simply the best, thank you for being you!”
