In the 1980s, Freddie Jackson topped Billboard’s R&B singles charts with a chain of hit songs including You Are My Lady, Jam Tonight and Have You Ever Loved Somebody.

Renowned R&B singer Freddie Jackson has revealed that he has been diagnosed with kidney disease. On September 4, the singer shared the news with his fans on his social media channels, expressing his determination to overcome this health challenge. In the video, Jackson can be heard saying, “After a lot of thought and reflection, I’ve come to a point where I feel I am ready to talk about a recent chapter in my life.” “I have been diagnosed with kidney disease. This journey has had its challenges but I have decided to face it with openness and resilience,” he shared.

Elaborating further, the legendary vocalist announced his newly formed partnership with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness about kidney health and be there for those who suffer from this disease. “It’s important to me that I share this with you, not just as a part of my personal story, but as a way to make a positive difference,” he said.

The 67-year-old singer added that he hopes his partnership with the National Kidney Foundation will “help shine a light on the importance of this issue.” Posting the video on Instagram, he captioned, “I have been diagnosed with kidney disease. This journey has been challenging, but I am not facing it alone. My close friends, my manager and music family, and all of you are here with me, keeping me going.”

Freddie Jackson went on to say, “As I take this step, I am turning my personal experience into a platform for greater understanding and advocacy. With your help, we can work towards better awareness and improved outcomes for everyone with kidney disease.” He ended the video by addressing his fans. He said, “Thank you for your encouragement, your love and your support. It means more to me than I can express. From the bottom of my heart, I love you.”

The announcement came as a surprise to many fans and the music industry. Social media users flooded the comments section with a sea of reactions, with most of the users sending their best wishes to the singer. Additionally, some stated that they would contribute funds to the National Kidney Foundation and pray for his speedy recovery.
