Launch of two new national missions: PM Modi launched the second phase of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban and Atal Mission, aiming to make all cities garbage free and water secure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 and the AMRUT 2.0 program. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, according to the vision of the Prime Minister, the Swachh Bharat Mission and Atal Mission have been prepared to make all cities garbage free and achieve the goal of water conservation. On this occasion, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri along with the Urban Development Ministers of the states were also present.

According to the PMO, the target of the second phase of Atal Mission is to provide about 2.64 crore sewer connections and about 2.68 crore tap connections. Along with 100% coverage of sewerage and septage in 500 AMRUT cities, drinking water is to be supplied to all households in about 4,700 urban local bodies. This will benefit more than 10.5 crore people in urban areas.
