Land-for-job scam: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also requested to be allowed to join the probe through video conferencing. The matter will be heard on Thursday

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday challenged in the Delhi High Court the summons issued by the CBI in the land-for-job scam.

In his petition, Yadav submitted that summons under Section 160 of CrPC can only be issued to a person located within the local jurisdiction of that police station or within a nearby police station. Therefore, the impugned notices have been issued in gross violation of the provisions of CrPC.

The RJD leader also requested to be allowed to join the probe through video conferencing.

The matter will be heard by the bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma on Thursday.

In his petition, Yadav also stated that he is a permanent resident of Patna, Bihar, but has received the necessary notice to appear in New Delhi, in defiance of the law.

The Bihar Deputy CM has also sought permission from his lawyer to be present at a visible but audible distance when he is questioned by the CBI in the alleged matter.

On Tuesday, Yadav did not appear for the CBI’s questioning for the third time in this case. On not doing so on March 4 and March 11, he was given a notice to appear for questioning on Tuesday.

The federal agency had recently questioned Yadav’s father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi in ​​Delhi and Patna respectively. The CBI has filed a charge sheet against Prasad, Rabri Devi and 14 others for criminal conspiracy in the land for jobs case and under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and all the accused have been summoned by a special court on March 15. court.

A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, their daughter Misa Bharti and others in the land-for-job case. CBI did not oppose the bail applications.

The case pertains to alleged appointments made in the Railways in lieu of land gifted or sold to Lalu Prasad’s family when he was Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009.

The CBI in its chargesheet alleged that irregular appointments were made in the Railways in violation of laid down norms and procedures. Indian Rail for recruitment.

The Yadav family has denied these allegations.
