A case was registered in Garhwa district at the time of 2009 legislative elections.

Let us inform that during the Jharkhand Assembly Election-2009, a case of model code of conduct was registered against Lalu Prasad Yadav in Garhwa district. The matter (Gr.No- 2676/2021) is in MP-MLA Special Court Palamu. Actually, Girinath Singh was the candidate of Rashtriya Janata Dal from Garhwa assembly constituency at the time of Jharkhand Assembly Election-2009.

Lalu Prasad Yadav arrived by helicopter in his campaign. Lalu Prasad’s meeting was scheduled at Govind High School in Garhwa. For this, a helipad at Kalyanpur in Garhwa block was ready for the helicopter to land. The administration had also given permission for this, but his helicopter was landed on this helipad and landed at the meeting place. Due to this there was a lot of panic among the people there.

In this case, the then deputation magistrate lodged an FIR against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and the pilot of the helicopter. After the FIR, Lalu Prasad and the pilot argued in their defense that their helicopter had lost its way, due to which it could not land on the helipad. The administration did not accept this argument and alleged that the chopper was forcibly landed at the venue to mobilize the crowd.

After the hearing, Lalu left for Patna by helicopter.

It is a matter of diversion of route- Rajitik Prasad

Bhaskar spoke to senior lawyer and former Rajya Sabha member of RJD, Rajithi Prasad. He said that it is a case of diversion of route. It doesn’t make for a very serious matter. In this, it will have to be proved under 188 that the helicopter was deliberately landed at another place, whereas Lalu Prasad and the pilot have already said that the helicopter had lost its way.

So the helicopter had to land elsewhere. Rajitik Prasad told that if it is proof that the code of conduct has been violated deliberately, then one month can be punished.
