Lakme Fashion Week: Kareena Kapoor Khan Closes #5DaysofFashion Like A Diva

Lakme Fashion Week in association with FDCI kicks off theatrically Kareena Kapoor Khan And fashion designer Gaurav Gupta is closing out the grand finale like a real superstar. The larger-than-life set featuring waterfalls beautifully captures Pride’s view of the ocean. Dressed in an ivory-coloured body-hugging silhouette at the Lakme Absolute Grand Finale drive-in show, Kareena looked like a diva.

With models gliding gracefully through pools of water in a gravity-defying silhouette made from ocean plastic, the collection made sustainability sexy and durable.

Lakme Absolute Grand Finale designer Gaurav Gupta in association with FDCI on Sunday concluded Lakme Fashion Week.

Speaking about the collection, Gaurav said, “Sustainability is usually seen as organic, and I wanted to redefine and challenge myself in how sustainability can be made sexy and festive. Kareena Her outfit is magical. She is an eclectic star with a great sense of humour. She is a perfect muse for me as she gets to be the role and is a perfect performer.”

Hosted at the Jio World Convention Center (JWCC) in Mumbai’s commercial hub Bandra-Kurla Complex, #5DaysofFashion saw a range of inclusive ensembles celebrating creative digital showcases, innovative set designs and under one roof.

Transgender model Anjali Lama walked for designers Gaurang Shah, Abraham & Thakore, Tarun Tahiliani and Anamika Khanna among others.

With this season’s theme going to be defined, the runway not only showcased diversity in designs and silhouettes, but also broke stereotypes for models walking the ramp. The live and digital showcase includes models from all walks of life, regardless of their gender, height or size.

Showstopper Malaika Arora glided on softly wearing an embellished choli, red lehenga with gorgeous paisley embroidery and a red tulle dupatta with generous splashes of glitter.

While some designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Pankaj & Nidhi, Monisha Jaising, Arpita Mehta and Shweta Nanda let their clothes do the talking, this season too the celeb quotient was high with Shraddha Kapoor, Divya Khosla Kumar, Dia Mirza, Malaika Arora . Showstopper for designers including Soha Ali Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Chitrangada Singh, Tripti Dimri, Rahul Bose, Kunal Thakur, Anamika Khanna, Sanjukta Dutta, Shikha and Srishti, Megha Jain Madan, Annu Creations, Gaurang Shah, Rajesh Pratap Singh, and Abraham Become. and Thakor among others.

Fashion designer Preeti Jain Nainutia’s label Nirmoha has given a virtual presentation of her collection Retro-Spection. It had all the pizazz and zing of the ’60s, when free-spirited, cool, fashion ruled the style charts with eclectic prints.

Soha Ali Khan, who walks for fashion designer Megha Jain Madan, says, “I loved being back on the ramp and being with so many people who have been thoroughly tested for COVID. And I really liked what I wore, it was a beautiful off-the-shoulder dress that showed off my strong shoulders. The digital showcase also featured players such as wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Paralympian Deepa Malik and fashion designer Mohd Mazhar and hockey player Udita Duhan for Reena Dhaka.

Soha Ali Khan flaunted a sensational, black ensemble with horizontal gold braiding and a deep olive train.

Weaving stories into each collection at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week, each showcase celebrated crafts, textures and patterns in a variety of colours. This may be the end of another season, but it is just the beginning of some great stories.
