Lakhimpur: Shiv Sena slams UP government over detention of leaders

Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana on Tuesday criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for sealing the district’s borders and preventing opposition leaders from visiting Lakhimpur Kheri, where eight people, including four farmers, died on Sunday.

“The Yogi-Government sealed the borders of Lakhimpur Kheri, arrested Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on the way to the site of the incident. MP Hooda was also misbehaved with her. Akhilesh Yadav was also placed under house arrest, ” Saamna editorial alleged.

It said, ‘If the India-China border in Ladakh is sealed in the same way as the border of Lakhimpur Kheri is sealed, then there will be no infiltration of Chinese troops.

Taking a jibe at the Centre, the editorial questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

“Our dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a very sensitive and emotional person. Many times the Prime Minister appears to be emotional on the issues of the poor. It is shocking that PM Modi has not expressed his condolences to the farmers who have done the cause of the farmers. Condolences have not been expressed. Killed in the incident,” the editorial said.

The editorial also criticized media persons for focusing on the arrest of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, in a drug case in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.

It said, “For media, son of Shahrukh Khan is more important than killing of farmers during a protest against son of a union minister. Media tries to focus on son of Shahrukh Khan from the brutal murder of farmers of Uttar Pradesh Has been doing.”

An NCB team busted an alleged drugs party on board the Cordelia cruise ship, which was on its way to Goa in the middle of the sea on the night of October 2. NCB had detained eight persons for questioning in connection with the seizure of drugs on the cruise ship.

Later all the eight people were arrested on 3 October.
