Before stopping the offline sale of tickets for Sugam Darshan, Anusthan and Aarti at the KVT, he said, the entry inside the sanctum sanctorum of the KVT was stopped only a week ago in view of the COVID pandemic.
The temple has been witnessing huge crowd ever since the inauguration of KVD by the PM and a new record was set for the arrival of devotees on January 1. As per police records, 3.35 lakh pilgrims entered the KVT premises, while the district authorities estimated the presence of over five lakh people in and around the KVD in a single day.
Compared to all previous records of crowds in a day, which ranged between 2-2.50 lakhs on special occasions like Mahashivratri or Mondays of the month of Shravan, the KVT had the highest number of devotees on January 1. As per the records, on average normal days the crowd of devotees at the KVT is around 10,000, while on special occasions it has gone up from 1.50 lakh to over two lakh in the past years except in the two previous waves of COVID-19.
But, after the opening of the KVD, there was a huge increase in the number of devotees every day, following which the police introduced new traffic regulation and crowd management between Maidagin and Godoliya crossing by restricting vehicles including district administration officials, police and VIPs. .
Provision for barricading was also made at Mandir Chowk inside the KVD to make the pilgrims queue up to decongest the roads.
