Kurukshetra: 5 held for disrespecting Sikh religious symbol over food complaint | Gurgaon News – Times of India

KURUKSHETRA: The police have arrested five persons associated with a dhaba (eatery) on the National Highway (NH) 152 in Kurukshetra district, allegedly for assaulting and disrespecting the religious symbols of a Sikh family after they complained of poor food quality.
Kurukshetra ASP Karan Goel said on Monday that the arrested accused have been identified as Satpal, his son Prince, Satish and Hardam Singh, all residents of Ajrawar village in Kurukshetra district and Dheeraj of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh
He said all five accused were presented in the district court on Monday, which granted them bail.
In his complaint to the police, Harpreet Singh of Tarn Taran district, Punjab alleged that he along with eight others including four women, were on their way to Mohali in separate cars from Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra.
“At about 9am on Sunday, on our way, we stopped at Neelkanth Dhaba near Ajrawar village and ordered food. But the delivered food was not good and we complained about the same to the dhaba owner, who started arguing with us. Soon, the argument got heated and dhaba owner started abusing”, said Harpreet.
He alleged five more persons came there, who started assaulting them and they removed their turban and disrespected kes (hair), one of five Sikh Kakaars (symbols of faith). They also assaulted the women and abused them, alleged the complainant.
He said they broke windshields of their cars and threatened to kill them.
ASP Karan Goel said accused Satpal and his son Prince were arrested on Sunday, while Satish, Hardam and Dinesh were arrested on Monday. He said the police recovered a wooden stick used in the crime from the possession of accused Prince.
