Kumar Sanu, who recently performed at shows in the USA, has opened up on her frustration over the lack of work opportunities in Bollywood. Despite his extensive repertoire of hit songs from the 90s, he feels that the respect he receives from music directors has not translated into more work in the film industry.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Kumar Sanu said that his journey has been very good so far, and it is acknowledged that he gets a lot of respect. He said, “Mera journey abhi tak bahut achha raha hai (I have had a great journey till now), everybody respects me in the industry. Par sabse badi baat hai ki log respect toh dete hain, pyaar dete hain, hamara gaana bhi sunte hain (But the most important thing is that people give us respect, they show love, and they listen to our music). I don’t know why they are not using my voice for more songs in Hindi films.”

Sanu also wondered if the love he gets from people in the Hindi film industry is real and said that it often makes him think. “Yeh question mann mein hota hai (This question keeps running in my mind). When they are showing so much love when I am in front of them (why not make me sing too). I don’t know if it is real or not. Whatever it may be, they definitely give respect for sure,” he added.

Kumar Sanu, one of Bollywood’s most iconic playback singers, rose to fame in the 1990s with his melodious voice and unmatched versatility. Known for his record-breaking streak of winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for five consecutive years, Sanu delivered timeless hits like Tujhe Dekha To from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai from Saajan, and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from 1942: A Love Story. His contribution to the golden era of Bollywood music has earned him numerous accolades and a lasting place in the hearts of music lovers.
