KU advertises 6 administrative posts, academicians welcome move – Kashmir Reader

Srinagar: The Kashmir University (KU) authorities on Tuesday advertised for several administrative posts including the post of Registrar and Director IT.

The official said that the decision to advertise these posts was taken after Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nilofer Khan passed instructions to advertise these posts immediately so that they can be filled through proper channel.

“Some officials were trying to sabotage the advertisement and delay the continuation of the temporary arrangement, but the VC pulled up the officials and ordered the release of the advertisement without any further delay,” he added.

The posts advertised (all tenure posts) include Registrar Main Campus, Librarian Allama Iqbal Library, Director Director of Physical Education and Sports, Director Information Technology and Support System, Director North Campus Baramulla and Director Institute of Technology, Jakura.

2023 as per Brief Advertisement No. 1 dated 10/01/2023, “Appointment to the post of Registrar will be for a period of three years and for other tenure posts for a period of five years.”

It also mentions that the age of the applicants should preferably not be more than 57 years for the post of Registrar and Librarian, while for other posts it will be 55 years.

The date for submission of online form and hard copy is starting from 16th January.

The three-year term of the in-charge Registrar Dr. Nisar ended in January 2022 last year and since then proper advertisement was awaited. Academicians of the university had alleged that the registrar was acting without any formal order to continue in office.

The post of Director IT is being held by a scientist for the last more than six years allegedly because of his closeness with the administration. The Director-in-Charge has not been rotated for six years, which is a gross violation of the university’s three-year rotation policy for all HODs and Directors.

Meanwhile, academicians of KU have welcomed the move to advertise these posts and sought to expedite the process of recruitment.

“We applaud the VC for resisting the forces that have been opposing the advertisement for the past six months,” said an educationist on the condition of anonymity.

However, academicians have demanded that the Vice-Chancellor should immediately remove the officers holding these posts so that there is no favoritism in the recruitment process.

“If any of these officers happens to be an applicant for any post, the whole process would be suspect from the very beginning,” he said, adding that if these officers do not intend to apply, they should first submit an undertaking. . VC that they will not apply for any post-(KNO)
