Kriti Sanon shared her thoughts on the current debate of meteoric entourage costs and budgets of Bollywood films.

Celebrated actress and national award recipient Kriti Sanon is riding high on a wave of success, delivering hit after hit. As the star of films like ‘Mimi,’ Kriti has firmly established herself at the top of her game. Recently, she addressed a heated industry debate regarding the increasing size of entourages for leading actors, which is driving up movie budgets.

In an interview with the Bombay Times, the newly-turned producer didn’t shy away from sharing her thoughts. Kriti emphasized that while actors should indeed receive fair compensation, there is also a pressing need to scrutinize unnecessary expenditures. “There are certain areas where a lot of unnecessary expenditure happens,” Kriti remarked. “In the end, it is the content that wins.” She further elaborated that no matter how much actors are paid, if the core focus isn’t on the content, “if you’re not focusing on the main thing, which is the content, I don’t think the rest matters.”

Since the beginning of 2024, some high-budget movies have unfortunately faltered, shifting attention to the profit and loss dynamics within the film industry. Reports indicate that last month, four film organizations and five talent agencies convened to address the spiraling production costs.

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), Producers Guild of India, Active Telugu Film Producers Guild, and Tamil Film Active Producers Association were involved in the recent discussions. Notably, filmmakers Farah Khan and Anurag Kashyap have voiced their concerns about the escalating demands of actors.

Kriti Sanon, weighing in on the topic with insights from both her roles as an actor and a producer, offered her perspective. Though she personally hasn’t faced such exaggerated demands, she emphasized the importance of practicality. “It should make sense at the end of the day… But yes, we should be mindful of costs. We need to be mindful of everything on set,” she stated.

On the professional front, Kriti is currently diving into production with her first venture, ‘Do Patti,’ in which she will star alongside Kajol. The film is set to release on Netflix later this year.
