Kovid vaccination to resume in Mumbai from Friday; BMC receives 61,200 doses of Covishield, Covaxin

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday said that the COVID-19 vaccine stock will reach Mumbai tonight and will be distributed to all vaccination centers on Thursday.

The BMC also informed that from Friday, vaccination will resume at government centers and its centers. “50,000 doses of Covishield and 11,200 doses of Covaxin will be given,” the BMC said.

Earlier on Tuesday, only 58 state and BMC-run centers were operational for vaccination in Mumbai due to shortage of vaccines and many had to return home disappointed.

The BMC had said that 50 per cent of the dosage would be given to those with an online appointment, while the rest would be used for those opting for walk-in registration.

The financial capital of the country has been facing a shortage of vaccines since the beginning of this month.

The BMC had earlier suspended vaccination at civic and government-run centers citing shortage of vaccines.

Maharashtra recorded 8,159 new Covid-19 cases, 7,839 patients discharged and 165 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total active COVID-19 cases in the state are 94,745 and the total discharged is 60,08,750 while the death toll is 1,30,918.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 41.54 crores.

A total of 41,54,72,455 vaccine doses have been administered through 51,36,590 sessions, including 34,25,446 vaccines, as per the provisional report till 7 am today, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a release. Dosage is included. last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry said that the central government is committed to accelerate the pace and expand the scope of Kovid-19 vaccination across the country, the health ministry informed that the new phase of vaccination has started from June 21.

Of those infected since the start of the pandemic, 3,03,90,687 people have already been cured of Covid-19 and 36,977 patients have been cured in the last 24 hours.
