With the monsoon session of Parliament beginning July 19, strict COVID-19 norms are being enforced to prevent the transmission of coronavirus during the proceedings.

As of June 19, more than 400 Lok Sabha members have been vaccinated against coronavirus, an office-bearer of Parliament said.

The official said the actual figure could be higher as most of the MPs have vaccinated in their respective states.

Journalists covering Lok Sabha are also being provided vaccination facility by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

The monsoon season usually begins in the third week of July and ends before August 15.

During the budget session earlier this year, the Rajya Sabha used to run from 9 am to 1 pm and at times till 2 pm, with Lok Sabha proceedings beginning at 4 pm. This was done to ensure distancing norms as part of proper handling of COVID.

Since the pandemic began, all three sessions of Parliament had to be shortened due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.
