Bengaluru: Karnataka Association of Residents Doctors have called for an indefinite strike from November 29 in protest against non-payment of salaries. covid Non-deduction of allowance and fees.
The strike would mean withdrawal of all optional services including OPDs and optional OTs (except emergency services) in all medical colleges affiliated to the card. The association had announced a similar indefinite strike on November 9 as well, but it was called off after the medical education minister promised to resolve it in 10 days.
“It is unfortunate that the assurance given by the Medical Education Minister has not been fulfilled. The intention to solve the problem is not clearly visible as the resident doctors were left out of the package of covid-risk Recently announced allowances by the Government of Karnataka. We are left with no option but to express our dissent in this regard…” read a press release of the association.
The state had announced a Covid allowance of Rs 10,000 per month to all resident doctors from April. However, not a single penny has been given so far.
Also the educational fee was increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,20,000, which is an increase of almost 400%. No concession was given to the students during Kovid even though the school fees were low.
The association has also pointed to the repeated postponement of NEET-PG counselling. “We would hereby urge the Central Government and supreme court of india To look into the grievances of the resident doctors of the country and take necessary measures to expedite the admission process along with NEET-PG 2021 counseling and expedite the court proceedings on an urgent basis. If there is no positive response, we will be forced to raise our protest. The responsibility of any such unfortunate situation affecting the health services will rest with the concerned authorities,” said another release from the association.
