Covid: DDMA says all private offices to remain closed, work-from-home system returns

In an effort to contain the increase in cases, all private offices in Delhi will remain closed and employees will report under work-from-home arrangements. Only offices falling under essential services will be exempted.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) took this decision on Tuesday after reviewing the prevailing situation in the national capital. More than 19,000 new cases were reported in Delhi on Monday. The positivity rate stood at 25 percent, which is the highest since May 5. 17 people have also died in the city.

On Monday, Delhi closed restaurants and bars and said only takeaway and home delivery would be allowed. Also, offices were asked to work with half their staff in the office and the rest to work at home. The city government offices are functioning with 50 percent attendance.

Those exempted from the new rule include private banks, offices providing essential services, insurance companies, pharma companies, microfinance companies, lawyers’ offices and courier services.

Delhi recorded over 19,000 new cases yesterday, a little less than Sunday’s 22,751. The positivity rate was 25 per cent yesterday, the highest since May 5. 17 people also died in the city.
