Coimbatore: The number of micro containment zones has increased from 26 to 96 due to increasing number of COVID cases in Coimbatore district in the last four days.
Micro containment zones are being declared around the homes of those whose samples test positive for COVID-19 with S gene dropout, which is a possible indication omicron Type.

“Currently only 18% of the positive cases are admitted in hospitals and the rest 88% are in home isolation. Private hospitals are also directed not to admit asymptomatic patients without comorbidities. The home quarantined people will be monitored with special teams who will go door to door.”
A total of 70,955 frontline workers, health workers and senior citizens are eligible for booster shots in the district in the first phase. He is expected to be vaccinated by the end of January.
