Kolkata: Banned parrots recovered from Jogbani Express, one arrested. Rail Hunt

Kolkata : Railway Protection Force (RPF) has got a big success. A large number of banned parrots being brought for smuggling from Jogbani-Kolkata Express Special have been recovered. A man has been arrested for smuggling. RPF handed over 7 boxes full of confiscated parrots to the Forest Department. According to the information, on the information of the informer, under the leadership of Inspector Vidyu Bhushan Sharma of Malda RPF Post, Sub Inspector Shriman Tiwari, SI D Bose, Head Constable Krishna Kumar, Constable NC Ghosh, Women Constable KK Singha, ASI R Mandal of CIB and Constable Dharmendra Kumar. The team started investigation in 03160 Down Jogbani-Kolkata Special Express which reached Platform 3 of Malda Town station last evening.

RPF recovered two wire cages which were covered with jute under berth 68 of coach number S-8. On opening it, the banned parrots were found in the cage. On the basis of suspicion, the RPF questioned the person traveling at berth number-70, then he was stunned. On his behest, the RPF recovered 5 more cages filled with banned parrots from the bathroom of the coach, inside which were filled with banned parrots and other birds. The RPF took the person into custody after the passenger did not show valid documents related to the banned birds and did not give a satisfactory answer.

Along with this, other birds including parrots were confiscated. It was learned that the traveler was bringing the banned birds from Katihar to Bardman. During interrogation, the passenger revealed his name as Sheikh Shahid (30) son of Sheikh Moin resident of West Bengal’s West Burdman district of Sadar Burdman police station area as Malibagan. On information, the forest department team also reached the station. The RPF handed over the confiscated parrots and other birds and the detained passenger to the Forest Department for further action.
