‘Knowed how much talent we had when we came together’: Justin Langer after Australia’s T20 World Cup win

Australia head coach Justin Langer was excited after winning 2021 t20 world cup title for the first time since the start of the tournament in 2007. Australia stamped their authority in the much-discussed Trans-Tasman rivalry by defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets in the mega-finale. Mitchell Marsh (77*) and David Warner (53) played key roles in the historic win.

Langer admitted that it is difficult to put into words his feelings after guiding his team to their maiden T20 World Cup title.

“Everybody who wins the World Cup says it’s hard to process, it’s hard to put into words but it’s such an amazing group of people. That’s what every coach and every captain says but we have some amazing cricketers here “

The legendary cricketer spoke of reconnecting the core of the team for the T20 World Cup after a long time.

“We haven’t got a chance to play together for the last 12 months for different reasons. When we all got back together, it was almost like a reunion. There are so many close relationships out there, a very special moment for everyone.”

The Australian team’s head coach said the team believed in itself despite having suffered some heart-wrenching defeats in the T20 World Cup against West Indies and Bangladesh. He also heaped praise on Marsh, who was also adjudged the man of the match for his knock of 77 runs.

“We knew how much talent we had when we came together. The team has immense talent. When we were in West Indies and Bangladesh, some pieces were missing, Mitch Marsh took a piece of them and he has been brilliant Langer said.

Langer further spoke about the bio-bubble life and said that the Australian players had a lot of fun both on and off the field.

“We also embraced fun. In these situations, when everyone is talking about bubbles, these guys have a lot of fun on and off the field. In this form of the game, you really want to have fun and enjoy It’s important to take, people have done it. I think it was an important part of the success here.”

The 50-year-old heaped praise on Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood for their consistent performances with the ball throughout the tournament.

“Zamps brings a smile to my face every time because he’s a little different and he’s a little hippie but he’s so competitive, he’s been so good in this form of the game. We see the leg-spinners have a worldwide influence and He’s doing it for Australia. Josh Hazlewood – He didn’t play the last ODI World Cup because he had some back issues. He’s been fantastic here, it’s been a great team effort,” he concluded.
