In his latest edition of The Wealth Report 2022, wealth advisor Knight Frank said the number of ultra-high-net-worth-individuals (UHNWIs) globally rose 9.3 per cent to 6,10,569 in 2021, from the previous 5,58,828 was from The year.

Among major Indian cities, Bengaluru had the highest increase in the number of UHNWIs from 17.1 per cent to 352, followed by Delhi (12.4 per cent, 210) and Mumbai (9 per cent, 1,596).
The advisory has projected the number of UHNWIs to grow by 39 percent by 2026 from 13,637 in 2021 to 19,006. In 2016, the number of UHNWIs was 7,401.

For the first time, Knight Frank has examined the size of the ‘next generation’ of the world’s UHNWI population and assessed what this could mean for property markets.
“Globally, it is estimated that 135,192 UHNWIs are self-made and are under the age of 40, which is about one-fifth of the total UHNWI population. India ranks 6th in percentage growth of the UHNWI population that is self-made. -manufactured and under the age of 40 years,” it said.
Over the next five years, Knight Frank predicts that the global UHNWI population will increase by a further 28 percent, with Asia and Australia increasing by 33 percent, with the biggest increases, followed by North America (28 percent) and Latin America. America (26 percent).
