‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ will be historic: Rakesh Tikait

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has organized a mega mahapanchayat in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. Taking to Twitter, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait on Saturday said the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ to be held in Muzaffarnagar is going to be historic. The ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ in Muzaffarnagar was announced by BKU national president Naresh Tikait on August 30.

Rakesh Tikait has called upon people on Twitter to be a part of the Mahapanchayat to be held on 5th September.

The BKU on Friday said the venue of the “mahapanchayat” to be organized under the banner of “Kisan Morcha” would be the government college campus, which is attended by farmers from across the country, including Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and southern states. , will take part in the program.

Officials said that the district administration has made tight security arrangements in view of the incident.

7 arrested for protesting against farmers in Noida

Meanwhile, seven people who were part of the farmers’ protest were arrested and over 60 were briefly detained in Noida on Friday for violating restrictions imposed under Section 144 of CrPC, police said, here. Even Congress workers allege “illegal detention” of their colleagues.

Congress workers also protested at the city magistrate’s office in the morning, demanding the release of their leaders, including Anil Yadav, state youth wing president Omvir Yadav and the party’s farmers’ wing president Gautam Awana.

Congress workers and leaders have been part of the ongoing farmers’ protest in Noida, with villagers demanding solutions to their various demands, including an increase in compensation for their land acquired by the local authority.

“Seven people were arrested today and sent to jail for violating restrictions imposed under Section 144 of CrPC. These seven men were repeat offenders. Another 65 people were detained for some time,” said a senior police officer.
