While the anticipation for the film runs high, actor Owen Teague recently said that he immersed himself in ape behavior to portray the character of a chimpanzee with remarkable accuracy. The actor will portray Noa, an intelligent chimpanzee with a gentle demeanor, in the upcoming Wes Ball film. Teague, preparing for the film’s release, shared with Variety that he spent six weeks at a Florida ape sanctuary, closely observing primate behavior to enhance his performance on-screen.

In an interview with Variety, Owen Teague disclosed that while he bonded with chimpanzees, he kept his distance from orangutans. “Man, they smell terrible,” he added. Teague further explained that he took extensive measures to embody the characteristics for his role, with the guidance of a movement instructor.

The remaining ape characters include Neil Sandilands as Koro, an elderly chimp from Noa’s tribe; Travis Jeffery and Lydia Peckham as Anaya and Soona, chimpanzee friends of Noa, and Peter Macon as Raka, a wise orangutan. Kevin Durand portrays Proximus Caesar, a formidable chimp leader of a coastal tribe of primates seeking human technologies.

The film, produced by Joe Hartwick, Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed, with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serving as executive producers, promises to be a visual spectacle, with stunning visuals and groundbreaking special effects that bring this unique world to life.

With a runtime of 145 minutes, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to be the longest installment in the franchise, promising an epic cinematic experience like never before. Don’t miss this thrilling adventure when it hits theaters on May 10.
