According to NITI Aayog’s Fourth Health Index, Kerala has been ranked as the number one state in overall health performance among large states. While Kerala tops the chart, Uttar Pradesh has been the worst performer. The fourth round of the health index took into account the period 2019-20 (reference year).

Tamil Nadu and Telangana have emerged as the second and third best performers, respectively, on health parameters, said the government think-tank report.

However, the report said that Uttar Pradesh topped in terms of incremental performance by registering the highest incremental change from the base year (2018-19) to the reference year (2019-20).

Among smaller states, Mizoram emerged as the best performer in overall performance as well as incremental performance, while among UTs, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir were among the lower UTs in terms of overall performance, but in terms of incremental performance. emerged as the leading demonstrator in the matter. ,
