CPIM leader Saji Cherian from Pathanamthitta district of Kerala has made controversial remarks criticizing the Constitution. He said that the Indian Constitution was made to loot the country’s resources. He made this statement in a program on Tuesday. Cherian, however, apologized for his anti-constitutional remarks and said his statements had been misinterpreted. At the same time, the opposition has demanded CM Pinarayi Vijayan to sack him.

to rob the people of the country Constitution- CPIM leader
Cherian said that we all say that we have a beautifully written constitution. But, I would say that the constitution is written in such a way that it can be used to loot the people of the country. The Indian Constitution is not fair to the working class as there is no protection for them.

Cherian further said that the constitution is that which was prepared by the British and written by the Indians. This is something that allows loot and nothing for labor. This system is being followed proudly for 75 years.

BJP leader’s demand for dismissal from CM Pinarayi
Reacting to Cherian’s unconstitutional statements, BJP leader KJ Alphons said it was wrong for a Kerala cabinet minister to comment against being an elected representative of the Constitution. Cherian has taken oath to protect the Constitution and now he is making fun of it. Alphons said he should have CM Pinarayi Vijayan sack him immediately or the governor should recommend the chief minister to sack his minister.

Besides Alphons, several people including Leader of Opposition in the state assembly V D Satheesan also criticized Cherian for his controversial remarks. Satheesan said that if Vijayan does not act, we will take legal recourse.

the party defended
However, advocating for Cherian, the CPIM party said that Cherian’s statement has been taken in the wrong context. Also said that he was pointing out some shortcomings in respect of the Constitution. Cherian has also apologized for his anti-constitutional remarks. He said that I am a public servant who respects our Constitution and upholds its noble values. I never intended to insult the constitution or say anything against it.

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said that whatever the party thinks about the Constitution, this is what he has said.

V Muraleedharan said on the cleanliness of the party
Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said this is not a slip of the tongue. He has said what the party thinks about the Constitution. He said Cherian had insulted the Indian Constitution in his speech. This is his anti-national statement. The more surprising thing is that he is now clarifying. They don’t know anything about the constitution.
