Kerala: LDF wins 16 out of 32 wards in local body bypolls, UDF comes second with 11

As per the results declared by the State Election Commission, one of the remaining five wards has been won by the BJP-led NDA and four independent candidates.

Kerala’s ruling LDF won 16 of the 32 wards where bypolls were held a day earlier, with the Congress-led UDF coming second with 11. Of the remaining 5 wards, one was won by the BJP-led NDA and four by independent candidates. For results declared by the state Election Commission.

The LDF was able to maintain its dominance over key wards in the Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram corporations. It also won majority in Piravom municipality of Ernakulam district by winning Edappallichira ward.

Both LDF and UDF held equal strength in Piravam municipality. The UDF was able to achieve a similar feat in Irinjalakuda municipality.

The BJP-led NDA managed to win a ward from the CPI(M) by a margin of one vote in Edamalakudi tribal village of Idukki district.
