Ahead of the Legislative Council elections on November 29 for the six vacant MLC elections under MLA quota, ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday finalized the names of candidates. The party retained Gutha Sukhendra Reddy and Kadam Srihari.

Rao announced the names of the party’s new MLC candidates- Gutha Sukhendra Reddy, Kadeem Srihari, T Ravinder Rao, Venkataram Reddy, P Kaushik Reddy and Banda Prakash- a Rajya Sabha MP. The CM also gave a chance to former Siddipet collector Venkataram Reddy, who resigned from the post yesterday. KCR has also fielded MP Banda Prakash to contest in the Rajya Sabha.

On this occasion, KCR held a meeting with the leaders and directed them to follow the strategy of the party during elections. He also offered P Kaushik Reddy a chance to be in the MLC field as Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had denied his name for being an MLA for some cases.

After the meeting with the chief minister, six MLC candidates filed their nominations in the assembly premises and ministers KT Rama Rao, Harish Rao and other TRS leaders participated in the programme. He met the Chief Minister at Telangana Bhavan.

At present, the TRS has 103 MLAs and is supported by its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), which has a total of 110 seats which is more than enough to elect an MLC under the MLC quota.
