Kashmir is now witnessing ‘peace, investment and tourist influx’: Amit Shah praises PM Modi

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that Kashmir is now witnessing peace, good business investment and influx of tourists, with the region “gradually normalizing itself to stand in unity with the country” after the abrogation of Article 370. Happening”.

Delivering his keynote address during the HT Leadership Summit here, Shah lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370 in 2019.

The Union Home Minister said that no one believed that Article 370 and 35A could be abrogated, but Prime Minister Modi did.

“I can say that there is peace in Kashmir now, investment is coming and tourists are coming,” Shah was quoted as saying by PTI.

The home minister also used the occasion to target Pakistan and said that India has given a befitting reply to cross-border terrorism by Islamabad “by entering its home” through surgical strikes.

Shah said the Prime Minister Modi-led government has made it clear through its armed surgical strikes in Pakistan that it is not that easy to break the Indian borders.

“We want peace with all… Security of our borders is our top priority and we have given a definite and strong message in this context,” he said.

The feat was so far known to be done only by Israel and the US, he said, adding that India is also on that list and now has “a different acceptance in the world” because of it.

Shah also spoke about the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Home Minister said that Prime Minister Modi ensured optimum utilization of resources to effectively fight the shortage of oxygen in the country during the second wave of COVID-19.

Emphasizing on the ruling government’s effective policies, in the short run to the economy hit by the pandemic, Shah said the Indian economy is now “the fastest growing in the world”.

Taking a jibe at the opposition, the Home Minister said there was “policy paralysis” in the country in the last 10 years before the Prime Minister Modi-led government came to power.

“We got political stability in 2014 as the country had an era of prolonged coalition governments,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was “compromised” and India’s respect in the world was reduced.
