Kumar said that the slain terrorist has been identified as Javed Ahmed Wani of Kulgam, which he claimed was on a mission to target a shopkeeper in Baramulla. “The incriminating material including arms and ammunition was seized after the encounter,” he said.
Meanwhile, J&K Police tweeted: “Terrorists opened fire on Army & Police ADP at Cherdari, Baramulla. Alert teams retaliated and one terrorist was killed. A pistol, a loaded magazine from his possession.” And a hand grenade was recovered.”
