Srinagar: From a local “hybrid” terrorist Kulgam Army personnel were killed in retaliatory firing on Thursday morning in Cherdari area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said.
The newly coined term “hybrid terrorist” refers to a person who is not formally part of a terrorist organization, but who assists terrorists in their activities.
Kumar said that the slain terrorist has been identified as Javed Ahmed Wani of Kulgam, which he claimed was on a mission to target a shopkeeper in Baramulla. “The incriminating material including arms and ammunition was seized after the encounter,” he said.
Meanwhile, J&K Police tweeted: “Terrorists opened fire on Army & Police ADP at Cherdari, Baramulla. Alert teams retaliated and one terrorist was killed. A pistol, a loaded magazine from his possession.” And a hand grenade was recovered.”
NS Kashmir IGP Another tweet said that “the terrorist killed is of hybrid type… and used to help terrorist Gulzar (killed on October 20) involved in the killing of 2 laborers at Wanpoh, Kulgam (sic) in Bihar.”
