Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri gets ‘Y’ security with CRPF cover pan India

Vivek Agnihotri, director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, has been provided ‘Y’ category security with CRPF cover across India by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Agnihotri has been in the news since the release of his directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’, which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley during the 1990s. Discussions are happening all over the country to bring out the hard story of Kashmir Files and the tragedy of Kashmiri Pandits.

While the film is receiving exceptional response from the mass audience, a section of people is calling it “hype”. A petition that said it was “propaganda promoting hatred against the Muslim community”.

Ahead of the film’s release, Vivek Agnihotri had also deactivated his Twitter account after receiving “ugly threats” regarding The Kashmir Files. The filmmaker also spoke about the mental stress caused by such threats. In an interview with Us, The Kashmir Files producer and actor Pallavi Joshi, who is married to Agnihotri, also revealed that a fatwa was issued against her on the last day of shooting of the film in Kashmir.

“Filming was the easiest part and probably the shortest part of it. The four years we dedicated to this film took only a month to shoot. The only thing that happened was that when we were shooting in Kashmir we got a one named after us. The fatwa was issued. When it happened, luckily we were on our last scene. I said to Vivek, ‘Let’s end this scene quickly and head towards the airport.’ We were leaving anyway, but I told him, ‘Let’s say nothing and finish shooting now.’ Because we won’t get another chance to come back. That was the only challenge we faced during the shoot,” Pallavi told us.

Earlier, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was given Y-plus category security by the MHA after comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
